History

Pre- Tag of Joy

As a high school student Šarūnas Ledas worked on a highly acclaimed fan game “Broken Sword 2.5” which was released in 2008 as a full feature game. Later he collaborated with an indie Australian developer and worked on various mobile games. When Šarūnas finished his university studies he teamed up with his brother Žilvinas and started working on games and visual interactive apps. This is how Tag of Joy was unofficially born in 2011.

Early days

In the beginning Tag of Joy was developing and porting games for other companies, eg. they ported “Nitro Nation Drag Racing” from Creative Mobile and “Happy Chef 2” from Nordcurrent to Windows 8 and Windows Phone platforms. They also developed an educational game “ABC Book 3D” that helps toddlers learn the alphabet.

First game “Monster Buster: World Invasion”

The “Monster Buster” game idea was born from a desire to extend a monster fighting experience and merge it with the real world by using Tag of Joy's previous experience in using augmented reality. The first prototype was built in a hackaton over the weekend in 2012 and was later accepted to the Microsoft and Nokia accelerator and funding program AppCampus.fi. The early beta version (similar in features to Pokemon Go when it was launched) was released in October 2014 on Windows Phone and it was the first monster fighting and collecting game that takes players outdoors. It was featured on numerous Windows Phone related websites, has great player feedback, and a hugely extended version was released in 2017.

Moving to PC and consoles with “Crowns and Pawns”

Currently Tag of Joy is working on a charming European mystery point-and-click adventure game “Crowns and Pawns: Kingdom of Deceit”.
